Friends of the Cheat has been diligently working to “restore, preserve, and promote the natural outstanding qualities of the Cheat River watershed” since 1994.  FOC works with local citizens, government, agency and industry partners to clean up local streams and rivers, provide river access, monitor in-stream water quality, and protect the watershed for the community and everyone downstream.

The organization has grown over the years from a small group of volunteer whitewater enthusiasts dragging tires out of the river to a full-time staff of six. Staff and volunteers work on a variety of initiatives including acid mine drainage remediation, baseline data collection, river access development, and multiple trail projects – just to name a few!
