FOC is searching for an outreach VISTA to support our summer programming!
Position Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute STEAM and environmentally-focused education events and programs
- Coordinate and collaborate with volunteers, community members, and partner organizations
- Create and support community events to include stand-alone workshops and lessons
- Professionally and cordially represent Friends of the Cheat and partnered agencies
Position Details
- Mandatory Start Date of May 21 – required training at High Rocks, Hillsboro, WV
- 450 hours of service between May 21 and August 15. Max 35 hours/week.
- Living Allowance $4950 (pre-tax) paid over 6 biweekly pay periods ($11/hr)
- Segal Americorps Summer Education Award $1956.35
- Work-related travel reimbursable at $0.70/mile
- Some evening and weekend responsibilities
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older and a US Citizen
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Drivers License, reliable form of transportation, and ability to travel locally
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google suite and social media outlets
- Ability to connect and work with children of all backgrounds, ages, and socioeconomic status
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures with the ability to lean over, stoop, pick up, bend and stand for long durations of time
- Desire to engage with children and facilitate hands on learning activities
- Must be comfortable around moving water
